Excellent my friend. No feelings of envy and/or jealousy I assure you . You've brightened up a very rainy day and made the ?250 I've just spent with the wife to refit the bathroom pale into insignificance .
Now hurry up and read the thing so we can be Discworld geeks together . I'VE read it twice the now.

Looks like a familiar scene. I just took my daughters to a Terry Brooks book signing. I don't know if Brooks is popular on your side of the pond or not, but he's pretty big over here.
Personally, I do like Terry Brooks even though I don't knoow many that do. To a lot of people over here, he's thought of as a second rate Tolkien (admittedly, most American Fantasy authors are, I think it must be some sort of English snobbery) and his novelisation of The Phantom Menace did him no favours.
The signing was good. I arrived about 2 hours before Terry and, as such, wasn't too far down the queue. It was nice to spend a couple of hours chatting to Discworlders I've never met before as well as being complimented by the man himself on a nice bit of copyright theft.

Actually, I thought the first Sword of Shanarra book was quite a Tolkien ripoff. I'm not a big fan of his. But it's been fun to meet him a couple of times.

My wife is a Terry Brooks fan and I believe she owns the majority of his work. A good friend of hers even named her Daughter 'Kian' after one of the Shanarra characters.
I have read the 'Magic Kingdom for sale-Sold' series set in Landover and enjoyed them. Tolkien was taught in our school so what more can I add? I do reread David Eddings 'Belgariad and Mallorean' at least twice a year though.

The Black Unicorn
Wizard At Large
The Tangle Box

my bro is a HUGE Terry Brooks fan..he was real disappointed when he finished off the last of the Shannara books. he's really into sci fiction, but it equally picky about what he reads.
congrats on getting the book signed Slaine!
