Do you want fries with that? ;)
we call them chips over here
I know you do. We've been trying to fix tht for a long time, but you guys just don't get it! ;)

I remember in college one day an English girl sitting next to me asked, "Could I borrow a rubber?" I blinked a couple of times and she indicated that what she really wanted was an eraser. We talked a little after class and she said, "Come 'round sometime and knock me up!" I thought it best to explain that in the U.S., "knock me up" is what happens when you... don't use an eraser...

Okay... that never really happened... :-D

i'm pretty sure i'll be either an architect or an interior designer. probably an architect since that's where all the money is & i wanna do both equally! i'd KIND of rather be an interior decorator..but i doubt i'd get much business, seeing as most everybody needs an architect, but only rich folks hire an interior designer. i hate to brag, this is purely fyi, i'm an all honors student in my first year of high school, so i'm reeeeeaaaally hoping to get a scholarship cause otherwise i'm not going to college! we'll see, i've got a few more years!

honours doesn't get you anywhere, you cna hve 90's and still nto get money from the schools your applying for, to be honest, people sleep through and get honours. i don't mean to destroy some fantasy but its not very likely that will be of much use except getting a mere exceptance ( not even sure if that helps either as you folks have the SAT things)

you haven't been to school in nc yet!! they make a really big deal out of honors classes down here. i'm not sure if this was part of your point or not, but with honors classes, you can get up to a 5 point gpa. soo..if i sleep through all my classes, get a's, & have a 4.6 gpa & near-perfect attendance, don't you think they'll accept me? plus, i took the sat's in 7th grade. you take the pre-sats in 9th grade.

ok dude, so lemme ask..besides extracurricular activities (which classroom teachers don't encourage here), what DO colleges look at? (also excluding your race..of course, if your a minority, you DEFINITELY should be given a fair chance :P )

GO t!! i don't even think there should be a box for 'race' on there. that way, no one could file for discrimination either way. what in the world does your race have to do with getting into college??

From americandaily.com...

The College Republicans group at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) held an affirmative action bake sale on February 3rd. The UCLA bake sale featured discriminatory pricing in which black, Latino, and Native American female students were charged 25 cents for a cookie; black, Latino, and Native American male students were charged fifty cents; white women were charged one dollar; and white men and all Asian Americans were charged two dollars for a cookie.

According to UCLA College Republicans chair, Andy Jones, the sale was intended to ?drive home to students the absurdity of deciding college admissions by race through the pricing structure of the cookies we were selling.?

In an entirely unsurprising development, the bake sale was roundly denounced by the Democrats.

Ah yes, H was telling me about this. Sigh. Quite the mis-nomer if you ask me. The name makes it sound as if one is raising money for affirmative action. But, I see what is meant now.

As for the demos being upset....
