An Apology for Absence

Post by Medinaquirin »

I know I've been very scarce for a few months now, and I just wanted to let you all know what had been going on. Back in May my mother broke her ankle quite badly, and afterwards her doctors began putting her on conflicting medications, which brought her near death at least three times. She's better now, the meds have been resolved and the cast is off (she's just using a removable brace now), but a few weeks ago we got a call from my uncle saying that my grandmother's health was deteriorating. She'd had cancer for years, and it had gone into her bones and more recently into her blood. My mother and I went up to Kansas City for almost a week, visting my grandmother (who was comatose most of the time) and my grandfather (who was being a complete bastard) nearly every day. On the first of August she passed away in her sleep, and my mother was beside her. I waited in the room with her until the gentlemen from the funeral home arrived to remove the body. If you ever hear anyone speak of a "smell of death," it's not just a figure of speach. It's a stuffy sourness that I hope I don't encounter again. Anyway, as I said, it's been pretty rough, and I just haven't felt much like posting on most boards in awhile. I do miss you folks, tho. Thanks for listening to my rambles.

Poor poor Medsibear. I'm glad things are looking up now :-D
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"

Sounds like the good news in there is that your mom has recovered. Congratulations on that.

The older I get, the more family members I see pass on. All my grandparents, my mother, all my great aunts, an uncle, an aunt. It just keeps going. My dad is pushing 81, but I expect to see him around for at least ten more years. :)

Please accept my warmest regards, and another hug if you want it. You'll miss your grandma, and that's okay.
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

Augie wrote:Hi Med,

Sorry about the bad news. Happysmilies is correct about the greener pastures. When we die, that's when we "go to the good place." I am absolutely convinced of that. If I were religious, I would say a prayer. But I am an agnostic. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Augie
i don't mean to start controversy, but if you beleive in a "good place" must there not be then a keeper of the good place, for it had to be created as must all things and all religions demand servitude, there is none that gives you something for nothing.
