A good bassline does just that

;)
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"

its not so much the bass line as it is those catchy fills after the choruses the second on is a tad tricky

the bassline isn't different, but the in the LIVE version i think the bass is always more prominent, & the bassline from RTB is really great, but i don't think the sound from the album (call me crazy, but you know how each album has it's own sound) features the bass as much as all the LIVE versions do!!

You've got a point there.

May I make a request to choose today's bassline and my choice would be the live version of "Driven" from Rush In Rio.

Great bassline and very tricky to play. Especially the little bass solo.

you're more than welcome to choose a bassline anytime you want. that's why the topic's here!

i <3 the solo..especially watching him do it, it's just so amazing!! he does it so effortlessly, too!!

may i ask where you got the tabs for the solo? or did you just figure it out by watching him on the dvd? i'd love to have the solo, but i can only find the solo from Different Stages, which isn't quite what i'm looking for! my dad & i have figured out some of the parts, but we can't figure out how the heck you start it!!

Maybe I can help.......

G - E - E - A - E - E
(G-string fret 12 - D-string fret 14 - D-string fret 14 - G-string fret 14 - D-string fret 14 - D-string fret 14)

Then you move the whole sequence down a fret ie.....
Gb - Eb - Eb - Ab - Eb - Eb
(G-string fret 11 - D-string fret 13 - D-string fret 13 - G-string fret 13 - D-string fret 13 - D-string fret 13)

Then down another fret sequence...
F - D - G - D
(G-string fret 10 - D-string fret 12 - G-string fret 12 - D-string fret 12)

Down another fret......
E - C# - C# - F# - C# - C#
(G-string fret 9 - D-string fret 11 - D-string fret 11 - G-string fret 11 - D-string fret 11 - D-string fret 11)

Down another fret......
Eb - B - B - Eb - B - B

(G-string fret 8 - D-string fret 9 - D-string fret 9 - G-string fret 8 - D-string fret 9 - D-string fret 9)

So the whole sequence of notes is...........

G E E A E E Gb Eb Eb Ab Eb Eb F D G D E C# C# F# C# C# Eb B B Eb B B

Let me know how you get on!!!!

i just got my bass tuned (finally -- i've been playing it out of tune for almost 2 weeks now..so lazy!) & tried it out! that is FUN!! thanks also for translating the lettered notes into frets & strings for me, as tabs only make sense when i'm playing bass!!

i can't wait to play more of it..THANKS AGAIN!
