The conservatives took a majority (or will , about 60 ridings left and they are leading 30, need 20 more seats).
For those outside following Canadian politics, this is the first majority government in about a decade. What happened here is last fall the opposition (which outnumbers the leading party) tried to band to a coalition to usurp the government. Then currently they decided to force an election, costing 300 million $ to try and depose the conservatives (as the coalition fizzled and outraged Canadians). This session was in place until Sept 2012 abouts, but we just has an election now.
Moral of the story seems that people didn't buy the BS about Harper (voted in contempt of pariliament, conviniently by the opposition etc) and decided screw this shit, we need something more stable.
