I agree 100% - sh*t happened- now Mini Welker (Edelman) needs to step up and play his ass off like the last time Welker was hurt.CygnusX1 wrote:What a rotten way for a player like Welker to go down.
Reminds me of Portis. He went down the same way before the
concussion put him on IR.
It sucks for the Pats, but that's the breaks. (No pun intended.)

Really Bill???
was not whining... just amused at the hypocrisy.
Happy 2015!
And the reason the fieldturf was installed was EXACTLY for this reason- to provide a consistent playing surface. (And having played on it myself I can say it is excellent to play on- even more so if it is a heated field- weather almost becomes a non-issue)Soup4Rush wrote:YYZ30 wrote:And that's why we have field turf up here now- so haters like you can't whine about the field anymore.Soup4Rush wrote:Did anybody hear Belichek blaming the field at Reliant Stadium for Welker's injury? So at work we put together a Superbowl pick for $60.00 to the winner. We got 12 names and 12 numbers in two hats, picked and then #1 got to pick first and so on. I was 5th pick and all the bye teams were gone. I picked the Eagles to win it....................oh well, it's only 5 bucks. LOL
I was going to take the Saints, but the shops only Packers fan did............I called him bad names for the rest of the day.

This space for rent
only because the NFL ordered it. again, I was stunned at Bill's hypocrisy.YYZ30 wrote:And the reason the fieldturf was installed was EXACTLY for this reason- to provide a consistent playing surface. EDIT - Actually- by what I see from a press release the Krafts wanted the field put in- not the NFL.

Rather than butt heads with you anymore I will have to say I don't think you and I will see eye to eye on this issue ever.Soup4Rush wrote:there are some news articles about it and they were talking about it on ESPN the other night, after Belicheck made his comments about Welker's injury.
(which by the way isn't a bad thing- takes all kinds to make the world go 'round)
I did not think we were butting heads.. my original point was only that he complained about the field conditions at Reliant stadium causing an injury, but had no problems hosting an AFC championship game on a crappy field that was made crappy by not covering the field the night before. He had even said they did it to slow the Colt's offense down. These are not opinions, they are facts. All I said was that I was amused at his hypocrisy, thats all.
It is all good bro, no worries..

But why does Reliant have to use "grass in a tray"? Seems dumb to me.Soup4Rush wrote:I did not think we were butting heads.. my original point was only that he complained about the field conditions at Reliant stadium causing an injury, but had no problems hosting an AFC championship game on a crappy field that was made crappy by not covering the field the night before. I see Soup's point but the comments I heard on monday afternoon from Bill live on the radio was that each tray of grass had a different consistency, making each stride have different footing.
It sounds bad because Welker got hurt and the Pats lost, but overall
anyone could have got hurt and the conditions were bad for all.
As for the field treatment in 2003, that was done to slow a fast team down, much like baseball teams grow tall infield grass so speedy teams can't bunt on them.
The AFC 2003 title game wasn't bad field conditions due to poor field construction like Houston was - though that is what the field ended up turning into. Then you heard all visiting teams say what Bill said about Houston.
As for Pat White the Miami qb, I watched it again on youtube and he was tripped up from behind by Steelers #94. Steelers #24 who hit White started his tackle motion a split second before White was falling, and appears to be leading with his shoulder.
The angle at which White fell is how their helmets got lined up.
Very unfortunate, and I was glad to see White moving as they carted him off.

Like Fenway moving its outfield wall in or out, depending upon the hittingMiddle Kingdom wrote: As for the field treatment in 2003, that was done to slow a fast team down, much like baseball teams grow tall infield grass so speedy teams can't bunt on them.
