My best bud and I went to a SMACKDOWN house show last year.funky cm wrote:got tix to see a Raw house show in February
Good times. They had all the pyros like on TV - except on a smaller scale.
When I saw GRANDMOTHERS hurling almost-full beer cups at heels, I
knew we were in for something special....
Some WWE roadie would throw a 1x8 board into the ring with 6 or 8 pyros
on it, set it off when the wrestler came down the ramp, then yank it out
of the ring. LMAO
the heavy dark-haired guy was announcing (can't remember his name to
save my ass, but Lillian Garcia would have been MUCH better), and we
were 3 rows back from ringside pointing at him and yelling:
"who-the-hell-are-you....who-the-hell-are-you"
We gave the "Ho-ly Shit....Ho-ly Shit" pop when appropriate, and
yelled "You f**ked up....You f**ked up...." whenever someone missed
their "spot"
We love a good house show here.
Don't start none...won't be none.
been to 2 WWF shows at old memorial arena (years ago, not sure how far apart they were)
faint memories include-
nobody knew who Tatanka was
group of guys cheering for the heels (including a "SKINNER" chant)
Berzerker banging his own head against the hockey glass (they left te arena's hockey glass up???)
One of the Headshrinkers in a singles match... did the "i'm a nice guy, shake my hand" bit which you never saw him do on tv
Jim Powers, and you knew he was going to lose
also went to a show in Red Deer, where Ric Flair beat Bret Hart to retain WWF championship

also went to a local indy show (ringside seats) a few years back... ECCW, from Cloverdale, a suburb of Vancouver. A friend's brother was employed by them, was part of ring crew, and I gues was trying to learn to wrestle... saw him mostly ringside, then later in a match he was a wrestlers lackey, complete withface paint, and got involved in the match (okay he climbed onto the apron and got swatted away). Then after that he was ring crew again....
in fact, some of the wrestlers in the early matches worked ringside after their matches - weird seeing a guy ringside , warning the front row to get ready to move , and realizing that this guy wresled in the first match.
was kinda sad to see the spectrum of the wrestlling world... ECW had 1/2 year on national tv (ok TNN) and i got my first glimpses of those wrestlers.... but then ECW went bankrupt and they went in different directions. Rob Van Dam went from ECW to being on big time tv wth WWF. And from the same ECW show, I got to see Steve Corino, coming out of the boys change room at Esquimalt Jr High School to wrestle in front of maybe 300 people

We HATED TA"TANK"A for being such a jobber, but he got no crowd pop!
I actually hoped he would have gotten over with the fans, but it was not to
be.
And the BERSERKER? hahahaha
Man, THAT dude brings back memories...him and The Moondogs. hahaha
Was he still doing those stupid "Huss" yells during the match?
Don't start none...won't be none.

My 'rasslin buddy that moved to Oklahoma told me I've GOT to come out
there and go to a Oklahoma "indie" show.
They actually encourage messing with the heels and calling 'em out on the indie circuits.
A guy will do his match, then come out as a handler for another guy.
He said there are fan "regulars" there, like "Straw-Hat-Guy" from old-school ECW matches.
Same premise though. Mess with the heels, get some "arena cred" for
both you AND the 'rassler.
Good times.
Don't start none...won't be none.
also went to an indy show in Calgary , early 90's, after the demise of Stampede Wrestling (before it was reborn again)
probably fewer fans than in Esquimault, less than 100, in an auditorium of some sort, no bleachers, just maybe 4 rows of seats on each side of the ring.
some wrestlers were from stampede - Biff Wellington, Great Gama (in a mask)

Dude.......that is FUNNY AS HELL!funky cm wrote:-- In today's useless trivia, if you watched Raw with headphones on you could hear a guy scream "HERPES" repeatedly as Randy was talking about, "Something that I have been living with for quite sometime."
....did VKM get the shit kicked out of him by Orton, or WHAT?
I gotta see the replay, but it looked like Orton was kind of leery that he'd
screw the "work," so he just let Vince have it.
I was thinking it was a shoot for a second, but Vince prolly paid him
well to sell it.
Orton laid his head open with those boot laces too, eh? Nice.
Don't start none...won't be none.
Yo, Funky.....
Hear anything about Christian coming back to WWE?
My 'rasslin' buddy tells me the papers are signed....

A Edge/Christian comeback would be SWEET.
I noticed that Edge is giving little "clues"....
On "Shmuckdown" last week, he did
"A-POSEDOWN-for-the-benefit-of-those-with-flash-photography"
but it was just him sucking face with Vicki Guerrero....HOAAAARFFF.
I think Christian's gonna be back soon. If ya SMELL-EL-EL what the
Cyg....is............................(pregnant pause)...............................
cookin'....

She could crack walnuts with those thighs.
Truth be known.... she's the best HEEL the WWE has! LMAO
She gets HUGE, OFF-THE-SCALE HEAT when she gets into the ring with the
mic!
"Excuse Me - I'm trying to talk" LMAO
Don't start none...won't be none.
still only heard rumoursCygnusX1 wrote:Yo, Funky.....

but yeah, i'd mark for a christian return - only if they used him to his full potential instead of making him upper mid-card
Raw/ECW house show 1 PM Sat Feb 7
there was an ECHL game the night before and also one scheduled for 7pm later that night, so i guess time is a factor....
doors open maybe 12:30 pm. got in line for food. got in my seat at 12:50... there had already been introductory announcements - "guest" announcer for the 1st match - some fan... first match starts at 12:55... wtf... first event i've ever been at where it started BEFORE the scheduled time... and with the late door opening (for ECHL games, they open the doors 1 hour before puck drop), everybody had not gotten to their seats
I didn't realize there were so many hicks living in Victoria
