TRIBUTE TO A GUITAR BROTHER LOST
Well, two days before Christmas, and I get a phone call.
A longtime hometown friend and local guy that inspired me to first pick up
a guitar in the 70's had died.
43 years old. From complications of diabetes. He was buried with his first
guitar, an old Ibanez LP-type electric 6, given to him by his father.
Tony Hicks was the guitarist in a local band called Invader. They were a
power trio, but not a famous one ....except here.
We sure tried to keep a dry eye during the holidays, but we kept on with
it, because Tony would have slapped us silly if he saw us blubbering over
him.
As a tribute to Tony, I have an idea to re-work on a old Skynyrd tune,
and tweak the lyrics a bit. I'm playing "Tuesday's Gone" but changing
the title to "Tony's Gone."
Anyway, this is a tribute to a rock guitar Brother lost.
I'll never forget you Tony, and I look forward to seeing you again one
day - shredding that Flying V in Heaven's house band....
Rock steady my Brother. You'll be missed but forever loved.
