It's the first way, just like a standard Stratocaster.

I've always felt the urge to rewire that middle setting to all pickups, as I don't really care for middle alone.

Depends on what kind of music you're playing. Doing rhythm guitar for oldies stuff, I'm using the middle pickup alone half the time it seems like. :)

What's the poop with the one on the right?

It's got a rotary switch, but two DHB's and two pots.

what's the hookup? Is the rotary switch a 3-way, or
a 6-way that splits coils?

Either way it's tre cool.

I had to go back several pages to find where I talked about this, but here's the poop. Originally that guitar (made in Italy in the 60's) had a neck pickup and nothing more. I've been altering it over the years. The 5-way switch is the most recent alteration...
ElfDude wrote:Well... change of plans. I'm not going to mount a third pickup. But I had already received the 5-way switch, so I decided to install it anyway and use it to take advantage of some coil splitting opportunities (like Kyle was talking about). So... no new holes in the guitar or anything but now it can do a variety of sounds:

1 Bridge Humbucker
2 Bridge Single Coil
3 Bridge and Neck simultaneously as single coils
4 Neck Single Coil
5 Neck Humbucker

It looks kind of cool with the new switch. I'll try to get a pic soon.

edit: Here's a pic!

The orange one is heavy-ish. The red one weighs nothing. :)

Coolness. I played my buddy's Ibanez not long ago and those things are
SILLY light. I'm surprised they stay in tune after 5 minutes!

Nope....the RG basswood solidbodies...incredibly light.

Makes me wonder how it can handle the neck truss tension...but they work!

BTW ....I came an ace away from buying a Artcore, but I chose a
solid PRS.

I still look at Artcores every time I get my AMS catalog...

Did you notice that AMS stopped offering the Lifeson Signature Gibby?

I'd love one, but I'd have to take out a second mortgage to own one.
