My girls and I just got back from a little two-day road trip. Just wanted to do one more fun thing before school started. We decided to drive north on historic US Route 89 and see what we would see.
Highway 89 is kind of the west's north to south version or Route 66. We've driven it south many times, seeing some of Neil's favorite Ghost Rider spots lie Zion and Bryce.
Just a few miles south of me the highway enters the Wasatch Front where U.S 89 becomes the main streets of the largest cities in Utah (and my town as well... we live about one house away from it). The highway becomes State Street from Orem to Salt Lake (through Salt Lake Valley it is the longest straight street west of the Mississippi). The highway is also often in the shadows of Interstate 15 during the Wasatch Front run. The highway departs the I-15 corridor at Brigham City to serve Cache Valley and Logan. In Logan U.S. 89 is named University Blvd and passes by the Utah State University campus. The highway then proceeds up Logan Canyon to Bear Lake where the highway exits Utah.
More pics and junk later.

After a lot of slow driving through the middle of the Salt Lake City area (I-15 is the way to make good time, not US 89) we were forced back onto the interstate for a bit but then jumped back on 89 to go through places like Farmington, Layton, Ogden, Brigham City, and we ended up taking a little break in Logan where we saw an old, historic LDS Temple.
Here are my girls checking it out. Yes, Stesha still has long hair. It's just all tucked up under her hat.
