Dovey's Softball

Last night Dove had her team party for her city league team. During the awards time the coach always tells a bit about a girl before saying who he's talking about. Kinda a game he plays for the parents and we all try to figure out who it is before he tells us.
Anyway, when he started talking about Dove I knew it pretty quickly. He mentioned that he give catchers signs to give to the pitchers and whenever he gave the sign for the as-fast-as-you-can-throw-it pitch, this pitcher would grin from ear to ear. He does that mainly to the younger girls, to scare them into not swinging. Anyway, Dove had told me that was her favorite pitch and she loved to get that sign, so I knew he was talking about her.
He also talked about how although she was a first year pitcher, she'd had a game wherein she struck out 12 batters. So, he challenged her by telling her she had nearly gotten the team record for K's. Next game she got 13. He told her she still didn't have it. So, one of the times they played the reigning league champs, she got 16 strike outs (and they still lost by one!)! Yeah, she's got the team record now.
Anyway, proud momma here hoping she puts it to the other teams at her tourney this weekend!

So....four tourneys played, two of them they took the championships, two they got knocked out. Not a bad season at all.
The best part is the girls had fun and they got to know some new kids.
Congrats to the kids. That's a impressive season if ya ask me.
Don't start none...won't be none.

Dove's team started their state tournament today. They played two games and won both! That included beating a team that beat them in the last tourney. mwahahahahahahaha!
AND....
See the woman directly behind me in this picture?
That's Camille, my buddy. She's like kin and agreed to take Dovey to the tourney since I needed to stay home with my mom. The Hairballs and Panaceas know her. Her daughter, Mariah, seen here with Dovey
is on the 14-U tournament team from our town, and her team won the game they played, too!

Games are over for today. Dove's team and Mariah's team are both still undefeated.
Today was the last day of round robins which will determine where the individual teams are seeded. Tomorrow begins double elimination play. Dove says there are lots of teams there, so they might not have seen the hardest players yet. She doesn't care though; she's having a blast!
