My guitarist likes to downtune a bit, so I too will be acquiring a 5 string soon, as for unkotting the fingers though, i don't have any trouble iwht them as far as guitar goes my mitts are plenty big enough, albeit they are only 4" fingers seems theres people with alot smaller.

rock on elfs girl, and out of curiousity they a cover band or playing originals?

No idea when they'll hit the studio. I'm sure the band leader wants to though.

I asked my girl's boyfriend (a film student at BYU) to make a video recording of the show so we could post some YouTube clips. Unfortunately, the video camera had a meltdown when he arrived. :(

Eagle noticed right off that she has a five-string and plays with a pic. I notice a nice bass amp there behind her. :-)

I love Chris Squire's playing!

She can play with and without a pick. I think she's doing it in that band for the sound it makes.

Bear and I primarily play without a plectrum but we can and do play with one at certain times for certain reasons.

She'll be a better and more rounded player this way. :-)

My personal preference is to grow my right hand nails slightly past the fingertip, so depending on angle of a attack i can greatly efect the sound from muddyish, very bright , and inbetween. That and I use all ring/pinky fingers alot when mixing harmony and melody to hit a little closer to the bridge on the high notes also helping brightness.

Never found a need for a pick on a bass personally, but I could do it if I needed to. As my guit fiddle has taught me those ways :P

"Heart Of The Sunrise" is a good reason to use a pick :-)

I'm a Chris Squire fan too. He has his own sound.
