and to that end a quote from Andy Rooney:

"I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else."

AMEN
Many people think that they need to apologize for different reasons. some so that they can show they don't approve of things that were done by their ancestors, some so that they can break a curse they believe is over them because of the actions of those that went before, and on the reasons go.

There are times I want to say to some of the apologizers, "Hey, that's great you want to distance yourself from such bad stuff, but what are you actually DOING to help your fellow man? Not just the black man of the past, or the red man of the past, but Everyman of today who needs a hand up? And I am not talking about throwing money at them, but what are you DOING?"

EXACTLY. The proper term is "American of African Descent."

I happen to be American of Irish descent.

The whole Afican-American thing pisses me off anyway. You live in America, why is the African in front of American? To me that is like on a flag pole, hanging another country's flag above the American flag. I am tired of PC, actually I am tired of humanity period. The local NAACP has decided to boycott the gas stations here in Fort Wayne. Why you ask? because they sell these little red roses that are encased in these little glass cylinders. Apparently crack smokers use these to smoke crack with. Funny how the NAACP is leading the charge on this one. They have also accused the local newspaper of being racist due to the fact that they report black people that commit robberies. I think I may just build me a house out in the middle of nowhere, surround it with barb wire and machine gun nests. :-D

From ABC News this morning:
January 09, 2008 12:05 AM

There will be a serious, critical look at the final pre-election polls in the Democratic presidential primary in New Hampshire; that is essential. It is simply unprecedented for so many polls to have been so wrong. We need to know why.

But we need to know it through careful, empirically based analysis. There will be a lot of claims about what happened - about respondents who reputedly lied, about alleged difficulties polling in biracial contests. That may be so. It also may be a smokescreen - a convenient foil for pollsters who'd rather fault their respondents than own up to other possibilities - such as their own failings in sampling and likely voter modeling.
He's right. There will be a lot of claims. I'll listen to a few hours of talk radio today and hear a lot of them.

Part of me says, "See? Polls are worthless!" The conspiracy part of me says, "I see the Clinton machine has engaged and the NH vote was rigged." The part of me that I hope will win out says, "Relax. Sit back and enjoy show. We're just getting started. :)"
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

I've mentioned it many times Elf....the burning issue with polls is:

WHO ARE THEY POLLING?? What are their demographics? huh? whaaat?

Are they polling folks leaving the UNEMPLOYMENT OFFICE,
or are they polling people leaving STARBUCKS?

That's true. I just learned that this morning. There could have been busloads of Hillary support from Mass and opther neighboring states. That could explain why the Dem ballots ran out.

See, this is why we really need to break the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton cycle. Most Democrats believe that the last election was rigged for Bush to win. Today lots of Republicans think that the New Hampshire primary was rigged.

Obama's campaign is really flimsy. "Hope" and "change" is what he says he offers... with no details of what kind of change or anything. But people want the status quo to end so badly that they're eating it up.

He sure brushed O'Reilly off pretty quick at the press rope after his speech....did you guys see that?

One of his Obama's over-zealous cronies tried to block The Factor's Fox news cameras at the press rope...(not a good tactic if you want to get elected) O'Reilly shoved the guy outta the way, and he was three inches taller than O'Reilly!

That took juevos y'all.

Dawn had a thread somewhere about church burnings, but I'm too lazy to search for it so I'll post this here:
Satanic threats found on LDS seminary building
Article Last Updated: 01/13/2008 10:57:14 PM MST

Posted: 10:45 PM- Satanic messages and threats were discovered on the walls of the Highland High School seminary building Saturday in Salt Lake City.

"The knights of Satan have come to claim the lives of the Mormuns," vandals wrote, misspelling the word "Mormons," said Salt Lake City police Lt. Dave Hoffman. Other messages threatened, "We've come to dismantle the Mormon empire," and "Your children are no longer safe." Pentagrams also were painted on the building.

Police have no suspects.
Last year the oldest Mormon church in my town was torched. Repair turned out to be more expensive than a new building. The historic building was recently leveled.

There were numerous reports of LDS churches being vandalized in Utah last year as well.

This is the first case of direct threats being included in the vandalism of which I know.

It surprises me how little attention this is being given in the press or by the police. The typical response seems to be, "Teenagers! What are ya gonna do?" This most recent one seems to me to be FBI worthy.

If this were happening to abortion clinics, or gay nightclubs, or even churches of some other demoniation, I suspect it would be big news... with the use of the phrase, "hate crime" being throwan around a lot.
