Many people think that they need to apologize for different reasons. some so that they can show they don't approve of things that were done by their ancestors, some so that they can break a curse they believe is over them because of the actions of those that went before, and on the reasons go.Soup4Rush wrote:New Jersey officially apologizes for slaverly. hmmmmmmmm lets see New Jersey abolished slaverly in 1846. That was 162 years ago. The average lifespan of a human being is 72 years. To whom is New Jersey apologizing to?
and to that end a quote from Andy Rooney:
"I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else."
AMEN
There are times I want to say to some of the apologizers, "Hey, that's great you want to distance yourself from such bad stuff, but what are you actually DOING to help your fellow man? Not just the black man of the past, or the red man of the past, but Everyman of today who needs a hand up? And I am not talking about throwing money at them, but what are you DOING?"
