I feel the same way. It's one reason we don't have a paid clergy.
Jesus warned that there would be many wolves in sheep's clothing speaking in His name. And he said we could identify them "by their fruits". It's not hard.
As Ray Stevens asked in that song of his, "Would Jesus wear a Rolex on his TV show?"

AMEN to that Xan! Can I get a big YAY-ESS?

One truly enriching thing I did was raise a Foster Child.
Even though I "lost" as far as adoption goes (he went back to his
birth parents - just like it's supposed to work), he still calls me
"Dad", and Sigette "Mom", and calls to check on us to this day.

Yep, and I was shown a Bible passage that said in essence that we
should give a constant tribute to the church based on what we make,
but hey....I'll be happy to donate in-the-plate on Sundays.
Looks like I got a bit of reading to do at any rate I did read Elf's and yes' I too have been a bit harsh. I am not trying to change anyone's perception on the other hand I wish some would at least crack the valve on their water tight mind and see the possiblity's. It concerns me that people will go on abusing "our" planet waiting for some eternal life, pure being bundle of minute, unique particulars of some sort of self-evident paradox, the divine of all existance. I just can't believe anything like that with all that has happened through out history, Hitler to name just one monster. I perceive in terms of intensity of existence, significance and relations to patterns, logic. Nevertheless I can't apologize as more than likely, I will again be harsh again sooner or later.....but I will try and play nice.
Ok' I finished reading and still wish I had some Cock-Burn! Nevertheless as I said before, we should act as if our activity has had a detrimental effect on climate change, that being just common sense. I also agree to what Cyg and Xanny said about being kind and helping others and it dosn't have to be money, a little love goes a long way.

Agred, 100%. Heck, time is a lot more difficult for me to donate than money. I think I told you how impressed I was, Kev, back when you went to LA as a volunteer to work on cleanup, etc. Good works indeed.

I don't think anyone here is against doing things to reduce, reuse, recycle, take care of the earth. The issue with those of us against global warming has been that we don't believe it has been caused by humans, that it is a normal part of the earth's normal cycles and we can't do anything about it and that it seems to be becoming a religion of its own.
That said, I reiterate that we don't have any problem with doing what we can to take care of the earth. We all agree that we should care for what we have as best we can.
I want to say thanks to Big Blue and give him a round of applause for his even handed way to calm the fires of heated debates, time and time again he puts a smile on my face.
I say make him an admin
The article from this school is unsure as to the cause of global warming.
Mix expects that climate change will have research legs for decades to come even though we dont know how much is natural and how much is caused by humans.
There are a number of points in that document that I found debatable. However, instead of taking it on point by point, I'd like to find out your view on something. Near the end of that report it states:
Clearly, any country excluding or phasing out nuclear energy is raising the overall cost of meeting emission reduction targets.
The point of that paper was to convince the reader that if we want to combat man-made global warming, we should be building a lot more nuclear power plants. Would you agree or disagree with the U.S. building a whole bunch of new nuclear power plants?
