Dreams

Post by Mr. Potatoe Head »

I'm trying to find another topic that may have some interest to others besides myself. Not wanting to be self serving but curious on how one interprets dreams and if you are able to harness the powers of dreams.

Getting down to a question I posed myself in the state of first falling asleep
sometimes having a vivid thought just before the moment of a deeper sleep of the dream that I'm about to have, consciously or subconsciously.
I find sometimes that I twitch as if just by the thought, say slipping on ice
creates movement of my feet just as if I'm awake and slipping on ice.
This controlled movement through my mind is very curious to me to the point that could it be harnessed while fully awake or while asleep used in such a way to convey messages or even actions say knocking a glass off a shelf onto the floor.

I'd like to hear others opinion on this and your dreams. Recurring ones puzzling ones and what you make of it.

Suddenly I'm on a bottom level of this incredibly tall, dark, crumbling old house. The only light is coming from the holes and cracks in the many levels of ceilings, the twisted, pale beams of blue barely illuminating the rotting wood of the towering structure. I feel an overwhelming need to protect someone, who suddenly appears in the black room with me. We begin running from room to room, watching out for loose or missing floorboards, wondering what that was on the doorknob of the last room.
We reach a window half-way down the ancient house, where we can look out to see a treacherous storm, the ceilings above begin to pour into one, then the other, until it finally reaches our level. I look up out the window to the top of the house. It appears to be swaying in the storm. Barely staying erect and together.
We run down flights upon flights of stairs until we reach the ground floor. The door flies open and we dash for the tall fence surrounding the God-forsaken property. We can hear the hellish voices behind us getting closer. Almost ontop of us as we reach the fence and begin to climb.

That's usually when I wake up.

did you know that in.....i believe Hawaii, the people belive in an ancient race of spirits who attack you while you sleep? well actually it is right between the phase where you are falling asleep and truly asleep the grogy phase where you are dreaming but still are partially concious, it occures right beofre you fall into a deep sleep anyway they belive that when you enter this state you become vulnerable to a certain deamon (i forget the name) from reports the deamon will appear to be an old man or woman with hidous facal features, the deamon proceeds to strangle you. there are several reports of people surviving this attack and their descriptions of what happened are surprisingly similar....neat ehh? but it only occurs in Hawaii

have pleasant dreams tonight.....

I say that I don't dream. My wife says that all of us dream. So we compromise and say that I sleep too deep to remember my dreams.
Don't tell me about rock and roll I'm out there in the clubs and on the streets and I'm living it! I am rock and roll!

Did we have a dream or did the dream have us?

This is a most interesting subject. I know of a nuerolgist who used to try to decifer her dreams. Perhaps I will ask her if she has done any serious research on this.

I too, will move to my dreams at times. And I know that I often will dream of what I am meditating on when I fall alseep. Recently I fell asleep thinking about Alex's situation and also about my dad (wondering where he was) and then I had a dream that Alex was my dad! LOL!

I tend to remember many dreams, but I make a point to do so.

I have had some dreams that would recurr, but most of those went away.

My mom often will dream the same thing three times and then it comes true.

I know many people who pray asking G-d to prptect their minds while they sleep. I had to do that for a time, but now I am not harrassed at night.

Zivo I enjoyed that story you write well
wcp I did watch a show on that don't they follow the same path around the island?
I envy people who can just zone right out and sleep solidly all night long
have not been there since a child when I use to dream of fly all the time. That is very rare now. I don't mind nightmares I came to a point that I like them. Certain foods help if consumed before bed, forbidden chocolate
for one, at least for me. I did not dream last night so I have nothing new other than thanks for the comments, keep them coming. Oh ya one more thing, T could you have your mother dream of me winning the lottery three times?

Did I have the dream or did the dream have me? Sometimes I start dreaming before I am asleep....sometimes I can feel when the exact moment is that I fall asleep and a sense of pannick at that point of entry...the point of the journey is not to arrive

ya something like that i saw the show on the learning channel (probably the same one you saw) about Haunted Hawaii, most of these incidents had to do with houses or building being built over old sacred ground.
i tried to find a link to the show but i could not.

Sorry, Kev, but my mom just won't dream on demand. If she did, she wouldn't be dying now, eh?

You are not alone on that one Kev.

I have had that happen a number of times and often with the sense of a presence in the room.

I know many others who have had this happen as well.

This may sound strange, but every time that it has happened and I have been able to say the word, "Jesus," I am instantly able to move again and there is no more fear. Trouble is, it takes much effort to speak at those times.
