I lied, my daughter actually got to take some pictures! (see below)

Well, the opening band of the show turned out to be a heck of a lotta fun! They're called Love You Long Time. Their songs weren't particularly remarkable, but their stage show was great. Very energetic... break dance moves, keytars, backflips... just a good time. Turns out they're local. I'll have to check them out more in the future.

We were right up front. Just a couple of people in front of us (though the crowd got quite big). It was mostly peaceful up there though. Through hours of boring boring bands we waited. Finally it was time for The Aquabats! The place went electric. Then when they started playing the place went NUTS! We were suddenly being crushed in an insane mosh pit. We all got kicked in the head. My 12 year-old got an earring pulled, hurting her ear. Her glasses got kicked down on her face, scratching her nose. She cried for a minute but mostly held her own. But the Aquabats were so exciting she now says it's the most fun she's ever had at a concert! My 16 year-old couldn't have been more thrilled. Except for wanting to beat the tar out of a few people I REALLY enjoyed their show as well.

Here are some of her pics:

There were hours of show left. But we were exhausted and beaten up and wnated to go home. None of the other acts could have topped what we'd just experienced.

More stories from the show to come...

Most, uh?, excellent.
Except for the skirmishes it seems like
a fun way to spend the day.
These Aquabats, where did they come from?
Are they inspirational in some way?
What do they sing of?

They're from California. Though basically a ska band, they do cross some boundaries. Usually with funny lyrics.

Here, have a music video. And crank it up!

Under the keyboardists elbow in front is a guy in a pale blue shirt and sunglasses, I'm right behind him on the right, in the hat. My daughter is right behind him on the left.
