Mid-life crisis

Post by LisaBug2112 »

I think i am in mine right now! :( :? Normally i HATE roller coasters, i want to go on some. I am afraid of curvy & hilly roads, specially on my hubby's motorcycle. I want my own motorcycle so i can go on them. I am also feeling things i shouldnt be, don't want to give too much info here, but i am VERY depressed & want to run away to. Time to write in my journal i guess.

Why do you hate rollercoasters?
Is it fear?

But I was on one two years back and it was fun.

At first I thought this thread belonged in the Other Music section; that it was about Elfie's band.

Sad to say it isn't such a cheerful thread.

It does sound like something is going on with you, Lisa. Mid-life crisis or whatever. I think there is nothing wrong with indulging yourself in some new experiences, even ones that you have been afraid of in the past. Just remember to keep some kind of balance and not do anything that would be foolish (not sure what the feelings are but I know they can lead to foolish behaviors if we aren't careful).

Depression can be a real quagmire. In addition to your journaling, are you eating well, exercising, doing all the self-care things you can? I know it is hard to do when you are depressed, but it can help you get out of the depression, too. Sometimes all we need to get back up to where we belong is some self-care. Sometimes. Even when we need more, though, the self-care is very helpful.

Oh, and if you need a shoulder, feel free to PM!

Did you feel like you conquered some of the deep fear within by riding the coaster? Start with the small ones and build up the courage for the big ones.

Have not ridden any yet, i am planning on taking motorcycle classes soon. I hope to find a decent bike that i can reach the ground while sitting on it, i have short legs.

Since i found out i am diabetic i have changed my diet a lot more than before. here of late however i just have not been eating as much, which is actually good. My blood sugars are in check, & i am still losing weight. I do a lot of physical activities at home, or lots of walking while i shop. I go to the fitness center 1-2 times per week as well, either swimming, or walking.

As i said earlier, there are some things that have gotten to me that would be TMI that are causes for this as well. So it is hard to explain fully.

Love 'em too.

As to mid-life crisis...I wonder if it should be called, "Finally I can have fun time", as I seem to have slid right into a second childhood from my first. Sure, lots of dues-paying in the career field, but always with an evil grin and a joke.
Go with your instincts, Lisabug. Time to have fun.

Then a crotch rocket is NOT for you. Personally I can't stand them.

The rogue bikers give law-abiding riders a bad name. :x

Most of the new street cruisers have low centers-of-gravity, so go
sit on a couple of Harleys, Victorys, Suzies and Yam street bikes.

You'll be surprised how low to the ground they are. :)

PM me too LB. We're all friends here. I live with a diabetic, so
hey...we can swap life stories. :)

Fortunately, midlife comes and goes. So does the crisis/transition part.

Now the band Midlife Crisis, on the other hand (http://midlifecrisi.purescience.com), I hope it stays around for a very long time. :)
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

LOL I HATE crotch rockets as well, they look VERY uncomfortable!!! Only a REAL bike will do for me, my hubby wont even let me go near the Harley place. Too expensive he says, BAH!!!!!

And yes i will allow the fun stuff to proceed as normal, its the "other" stuff i am not talking about that gets me down. I am tired of the same ole crap in MANY aspects of this life. Cant think of many ways to change it that dont cost money. A new bike will cost enough as it is, i am hoping to find a used one that a person is selling & i can make payments.

I heard THAT! I liked to have lost my lunch when I looked at Harley
prices too. That's just un-American.

I got a HUGE 1500 Suzi Intruder for 2/3 the price of a wee (compared to the Intruder/Boulevard) Harley.
It'll smoke ANY stock Harley's ass.

Put a Vance & Hines shotgun exhaust on it, and - voila! INSTANT
"potatah-potatah-potatah" Harley LOUDNESS.

My wife and I are a LOAD (on a bike) too, but it has no trouble
taking us as fast as we wanna go.

Times used to be that, when you walked into a bike dealer, you asked
the salesman: How fast will it go?

Now, you walk in a dealer, and they ask YOU: How fast do you WANNA GO? LOL

You can find a nice Jap cruiser for MUCH less than getting fleeced into
a Harley. You know the old saying: HD = HIGH DOLLAR. :P

Look around.

As a grade schooler I was lifted out of my seat
multiple times
on the "sling shot" which
was a flat box that
went in a complete circle, right side up, but only
had a single non-locked bar the row of kids held in place.

Yes, the fear was conquered a little by riding the NY NY
in Vegas, and then the Hulk in Orlando. I would consider
going on another one.

As for Lisabug, I'm with you on the changing things costing too much money. It's ridiculous how much money some people make for
what they do. And I don't mean just sports figures or actors/actresses.

Hang in there and take it day to day.
Hopefully you can find a decently priced bike, and get
some fun going on.
