it's really amazing looking at Saturn through a telescope....it looks like a bad prop that you used to get in the original Star Trek...it is so unreal looking

AURORA MYSTERY MISSION: Scientists have been studying auroras for centuries, and you might suppose there's no mystery left in the Northern Lights. Wrong. Sometimes, with no warning, gently shimmering pale auroras erupt in a riot of wildly-shifting colors. This is called an "auroral substorm" and no one knows what causes it.

Later today (6:01 pm EST), NASA plans to launch a fleet of five satellites into Earth orbit. The name of the mission is THEMIS and its goal is to crack the mystery of the substorm. In the process, researchers hope to learn new things about Earth's magnetosphere. (continued below)

Photographer Mike Theiss snapped this picture of THEMIS waiting for launch at the Kennedy Space Center on Feb 16th. All five satellites are tucked inside that single Delta rocket. Once in space, they'll spread out and begin mapping substorm activity from above.

"The next picture you see will show THEMIS in flight," says Theiss. Stay tuned!

Two moons on 27 August

27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for...

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August.

It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will
cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be
sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27, 12:30 am. It will look like the earth
has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

also,
if you're up early AM Tuesday there is a moon eclipse to see
They're calling it the eclipse of the Sturgeon Moon which is the name many American Indian fishing tribes gave the August full Moon since sturgeon were easily caught during August.
Possibly, Mars will be even more visible when the moon is in totality.

Is everyone familiar with this guy?

sorry tattie heid....but Mars will never appear as the same size of the Moon...and if it does start panicking lol

although it will be brighter as it is much closer but it will still be tiny..

you will be able to look at the Moon the night and see it red as there is a lunar eclipse which is visible in some areas of America which turns the Moon red

Will you try to get pics on the dark side of the moon too?
Of course, that's impossible, full moon fever has affected my neurons.

Jack Horkheimer will be on our local news at 5AM covering the eclipse

Dam someone over cooked my potato's I thought it was April 1st

actually my little brother sent that to me at any rate I did go out and look at the moon this morning, it's a pretty cool
looking eclipse red didn't see any bats but I did see a witch riding by on a broom

I was able to watch it from my bed! LOL It was beautiful to watch changing minute by minute.
