Here I am, 1 week into the basic training thing they called "The Reception Station." May 1986.
Image

Here I am after jungle survival training in the Philippines. September 1987.
Image

And being promoted to E-4 Specialist, about July 1988. Had I re enlisted, I would have gotten my bump up to Corporal.
Image

And sometimes, I wore a wig onstage because it looked silly to be headbanging with super short hair.

Image

Sorry for the dark pic, at the time I was using a Kodak disc camera......... Anyone remember those??

Image

And I am the soldier on the left side as viewed. (look for the arrow). We were approximately 110' up on 120' ropes that stretch 1/3 their length.

Image

That was a super fun cool day. The worst thing about all of it............. I am really afraid of heights. I don't fear falling, I just fear decelleration trauma. Plus I would make a mold for gorilla cookies!!!

I also got to train with Soviet weapons................... Ak-47, and RPG-7 Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher. And their answer to our M-60, I forgot it's name.

One of my buds here in this one, He's got AK-47's and I have the RPG-7

My brother, my dad, and I............ Christmas 87, I forget.

Self portrait at Waikiki Beach.........See I have been doing that for a long time. :)

Image

Getting ready for a Dress Greens inspection............ I got the day off for my uniform being "Squared away."

We were on the far side of Schofield. The Artillery and Mortar guys fired on the hill behind there a lot. Mostly training rounds. No sence reshaping the mountain, or starting fires.

Left of that pic was the road to Kolekole pass.
