OLD SCHOOL 101: What Bands Do You Remember Opening For Rush?
Before Rush went solo on tours, they had top-notch, QUALITY
bands open for them.
I saw numerous bands open for them on tours, to include:
Starz
Merillion (sic?)
The British Lions
Michael Schenker Group
Blue Oyster Cult
Saxon
List 'em here folks....Educate the younger fans to
what it was all about.

Whoa. I went through my box of ticket stubs. I now realize I've seen Rush more than 50 times, met them/had conversations 4 times (in the old days, not recently) and have seen a ton of acts supporting them. Thanks for the "Memory Lane", Cyg.
The opening acts that I can remember;
U.F.O.
Cheap Trick
Stillwater
Max Webster
April Wine
Pat Travers
Starz
.38 Special
FM
John Butcher Axis
Rory Gallagher
Steve Morse
Mr. Big
Eric Johnson
Primus

It's almost depressing that this information is not readily available.
They were just as much a part of Rush's show as Rush!
Well done. Rush trivia buffs .....celebrate!!!
BTW...Pat Travers Band totally KICKED ASS.
Don't start none...won't be none.

Nope, but like on the marquee, I absolutely adored the days when Rush would do 2 concerts in the same venue, back-to-back. I bet they did as well. It meant they were so popular they were both sold out. My friends and I could see two shows in Baltimore, then head over to Allentown to see them at the fairgrounds (they played in the center of the horse race track) then back to Philly at the Spectrum, then over to DC to see them at the Cap Center.ElfDude wrote:

First show I saw was Presto, and I think it was Mr. Big. Pretty sure after that it was "An Evening with Rush" aka, "We don't need no stinking Opener...
