Here is the official ruling from Pan's first post.
Panacea wrote:I give a starting word. The next person may change only one letter in the word to make a new word. We'll go as far as we can! If we get totally stuck, we can begin again with another starting word.
The part I made blue is the "Gray area" that has us pissing and moaning over the way this thread get's goofy.

There is nowhere in the rules that say's you can't use a word more than one time. Imagine that, there are only so many words in the language, the game would peter itself out sooner or later anyhoo.

So the way I see it is......... it's either people truly getting stuck on a word and making a new word to play on, or just flat out bastardizing the dang thing. So if you are stuck for real and we squash you, oops sorry. If you are bastardizing just because, then stop.

And by the way, I am directing this comment to everyone playing the game, not at anyone directly. What we need is for Pan to make this "Gray area" non-debateable, and make it absolute so we all can stop trying to interpret the rule..... and go back to having fun. :-D Can we do that???

yea but a change in the rules should take effect like being able to add 1 letter when someone gets totally stuck instead of changing to a whole new word. Over time the words would get longer therefore more diffecult and we shouldn't get stuck that way either...hows that, everyone agree or do we need Pan?

At any rate, I think we were just knocking on each other out of fun :-D
at least I was
When evil is allowed to compete with good, evil has an emotional populist appeal that wins out unless good men & women stand as a vanguard against abuse.

I can see that as possible. I just didn't like when just as an off example, some work like "Kite" had the next word be "Farm".

That is where it was burning on me. (not you) :-D

Your idea has good validity Kev, but it falls into the Gray Area I was talking about.

I still think Pan is the final word on this........it is her game after all. :-)

The reason things get out of hand is not someone making a mistake or using the same word twice (who wants to look through 100 pages to see if a word has already been used?) It's about playing with others in a public manner. It's not supposed to be "just bomb in and type whatever word comes to your mind." There is a Random game for that.
When someone asks an individual to please play the game right so that all others can play as well, it's sad to find out that they'd rather act like a 'rebel' and say 'rules suck', etc. It just sounds like a spoiled little brat in his own little world attempting to impress by intentionally making a pig's breakfast out of the whole thing.

There were some slightly regrettable things said, but I was clearly provoked and the person in question had also blasted another member yesterday for no reason and out of nowhere. I've had bad days as well, but you don't just go off on people when you are wrong in the first place.

So who will restart this sucka?
