Fun with Spiders
Today was the last day of school (Yay! ) and a parent brought in some of her tarantulas to show the class. She gave them lots of cool information, and they had a great time! Here are a few pics of the event:

Nice pics but spiders? *shudder*. Now snakes are not a problem, a good chum has had various species for years and I've looked after them when he's had to go away but spiders, ugh.
I ws genuinely shocked several weeks back when I delivered a small package to a house and the woman informed me it was a 'Chilean Rose' (turantula type) spider for her young son(!). I carried it around with me in the postie van all bloody morning too .

IIRC they have to be defanged in order to be sold. Think of it more like a small cat.CygnusX1 wrote:call me crazy, but if I were a parent there - I think I'd have a problem with fanged predators around children, but hey...that's just me...

Is that woman drinking soda in class?
She's fired.

Hey, the kids are in more danger from each other than they are the poor wee spiders, to be sure! Also, the kids weren't allowed to hold the spiders, just look, and touch St. Mary's abdomen VERY CAREFULLY with ONE finger. Besides, the student I'd have loved to have taken out with a fanged predator moved out of state.
LOL! Did you notice what's on her left shoulder? That's St. Mary's mate, Bob!CygnusX1 wrote:Is that woman drinking soda in class?

I know a few folk who'd be drinking something a LOT stronger than soda if they were in her shoes!
