emule / limewire

Why is mine so slow?
I have a firewall, but i did something with the port numbers
that was supposed to allow it to work faster......obviously I'm not that literate on this stuff.

My son downloads songs in like minutes,
on his old laptop.

I take like 20 minutes on a good day,
most times it takes 2 different days for me to get something.

any suggestions?

MK - here's a link to test/verify your speed:

I'll have to do it when I get home.
Thanks.
At least I can compare it to here at work.

How do I improve the speed if it is low?

it may not be YOU....it may be the SITE.

I tried KaZaa (before the RIAA hammer came down).

They used to be slow sometimes. Depended on what time
I logged on. Other times it would scream.

Limewire made all of my security go berzerk. I got rid of it after 15 minutes...

Just not my thing.

I was wondering if my security is too good - not
that I'd change it. But maybe there was something
I could do to get them to download quicker.

Simply uninstall then reinstall limewire to retrieve the default port settings.
My son uses it all the time for individual songs and the speed depends on the number of people sharing the file. I have the latest 'pro limewire' (with activation crack) which is the best yet. Pm me if you want it :-) .
Of course if you feel the need to download I can help you there...

In my experience music from limewire is virus free, just be sure to scan any software you may find BEFORE opening the file. As a rule limewire is fine to use if you have the relevant antivirus and firewall.

Aye, it did the trick here. Damn, everything has been so 'real life' here of late. Working my ass off, domestic chores and the gardens etc. Nice to be able to find the time to post.
