"Far Cry"... lyrics
pariah dogs and wandering mad men
barking at strangers and speaking in tongues
the ebb and flow of time and fortune
electrical changes are charging out the door
(chorus)
it's a far cry from the world we thought we'd inherit
it's a far cry from the way we thought we'd share it
you can almost feel the current flowing
you can almost see the serpents growin
one day i feel i'm on top of the world
and the next it's falling in on me
i can get back on
i can get back on
one day i feel i'm ahead of the wheel
and the next its rollin over me
i can get back on
i can get back on
whirlwind life of the faith and betrayal
rise in anger fall back and repeat
slow degrees on the dark horizon
full moon rising looks ever at your feet
(chorus)
"solo"
(chorus2)
it's a far cry from the world we thought we'd inherit
you can almost see the serpent growing
you can almost feel the planets glowing
one day i feel i'm on top of the world
and the next it's falling in on me
i can get back on
i can get back on
one day i feel i'm ahead of the wheel
and the next its rollin over me
i can get back on
i can get back on
one day i fly through a crack in the sky
and the next its falling in on me
i can get back on
i can get back on
ohhhhhhhh
i can get back on
i can get back onnnnnnnn

music of "Far Cry" video of the past that I had nothing to do with it other than post it here.
Had a full listen to "Far Cry" this morning (several times) awesome in my opinion.
Nevertheless it is really good and Hugh's art work is cool too.

When evil is allowed to compete with good, evil has an emotional populist appeal that wins out unless good men & women stand as a vanguard against abuse.

Wow! Am I glad I popped in to an empty Ogg house.
I have streamed this to mp3 and it's on my mp3 player already! 5 min 18 seconds of genius imho. Being a drummer I naturally hone in on the rhythm first and he does it again doesn't he?
Straight from the syncopated intro to the (slightly) odd time verse and I'm grinning already. I'm sure Hairy or another drummer would appreciate what I'm getting at, it appears to be straight four time but..?
I do have to tell you this, my band's 'new' song has a three cymbal intro into the first verse just like Rush does before the vocals cut in on Far Cry, convention requires four but what the hell...Neil understands.
I'm intrigued by the triggered melody first appearing around the 1m.10 sec mark. It sounds like a treated female vocal or Geddy singing in a higher register, maybe I'm wrong?
Simply cool to hear Alex wailing towards the end too!
Some nice new pics on the site...which is nice.
Thanks for the lyrics Me .

Putting that video up Hairy nevertheless Ogg thank Neil for the lyrics and some other person that tried to copy them, not me I'm just passing them along.
It's been a long wait and I am pleased with the new song. It's going to be a fun summer, I hope.

Just listening to it now and I have to say that I'm well impressed (can't copy it as I'm at the library).
Good punchy song which bodes well for the new album, especially as it doesn't seem to suffer from the production/mastering problems that VT did.
Roll on the new album.

I got to be honest at first thinking it was awesome but after a few listens not as good as I thought nice sound but lyrics lacking in begining 2nd chorus nevertheless not bad but could of been better. Yes' I am Irish and expected more! I suppose this is just the pebbles in the river and the rest of the album maybe we will see fish too?

Is it just me, or does Far Cry remind anyone else of the sound from Test For Echo? That was the first thing that I thought when I heard the song. Or maybe a cross between Vapor Trails and Test For Echo. While I'm excited to hear new Rush, I'm a bit disapointed that they are continuing in what seems to be a harder sound. I personally prefer their more melodic sound of the 80's and early 90's.
