SWEET QUILT/FLAME-TOP ELFIE!! SIGGY L-I-I-I-IKE!!!ElfDude wrote:Good lookin' Kramers, you guys!
I recently made an eBay score. It's being stored away until Santa can give it to me for Christmas (my older daughter will also be getting an electric guitar for Christmas).
Mine is a 1999 Carvin DC135 with a bunch of options like a 10mm-thick flamed maple top and an Alan Holdsworth bridge pickup with a coil-splitting switch on it.
It's a neck-through design so it can sustain until the cows come home and the neck heel is way smooth and comfy.
Don't start none...won't be none.

After having had the opportunity to actually use my new Carvin with the band a couple of times... I just can't tell you how excited I am about it. The day after our first rehearsal with it I was positively giddy all day long.
So, when do we get picks of the new PRS, sir?

Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?
I'm lacking digi-cam capability right now Elfie....NICE Carvin.ElfDude wrote:After having had the opportunity to actually use my new Carvin with the band a couple of times... I'm gonna Ged a bud to hlep snap some.
Is that a set-neck? Sure looks like it. Way cool.
24 frets too! You should be thrashing some Scorpions with that rig!

Nice. Very nice. I like the color and finish too. E-e-e-e-xcellent.ElfDude wrote:Actually it's neck-through... really smooth heel. Lotsa sustain.
I'm really lookin' forward to seeing yours! (so to speak)
I got stuck with black only with the Tremonti PRS, but it has tasty
white binding all around the body/neck edges.
it's got a fat/wide neck too. MY hands are too big for LP necks.
This thing plays perfectly for people with big paws.
It's also HALF the weight of my Kramer. I could lug this thing around
for hours.

you got it Elfie! And alas, the premier downfall - if you wanna call it that.. I love this guitar - is a toss-up between the Korean assembly, and the string-around / tune-o-matic type bridge.ElfDude wrote:PRS doesn't make junk, that's for sure. And that goes for their stuff from Korea as well.
Very cool about the weight. A light guitar that's well balanced is always appreciated after the first hour of playing.
So... is this the model you have?
I have no idea how you adjust intonation on THAT.
Other than that it's pure PRS. Yep, that pic doesn't show the white binding either.
I almost went for a big Ibanez Artcore. They're made in China.
Read too many so-so and negative reviews for it, so I nixed that.
The PRS had nothing but good reviews on the AMS site, so I went for it.
They actually sold out of them for a few weeks.
GuitarCenter had 'em, but they'd take your Grandma's last dollar if you let 'em. GC's the LAST RESORT for me.

Thanx Elfie. I think so too, but it sure seemed like a crap shoot without actually test-shredding one.ElfDude wrote:I'll add my brother's negative review for the Ibanez Artcore. He had ordered one online, and then got the chance to play one. His order was cancelled the next day. I think you dun good!
Hey, is that cab of yours a 4x10 or 4x12?
I'm a wire-nut / electric-type, so I'm looking to build one myself.
Got any leads on a good supplier of cabinet parts, like Crutchfield or something?
