SCHU....t.....

Was I seeing things this morning, when I thought I saw Mars in the low eastern morning sky?

Cool if it WAS....I heard Mars is supposed to be the most visible in history in a few days....seen next to the moon where we're at...Looking forward to that.

sorry cyg...i never noticed this...and I cant remember when Aug 23rd was

BIG FULL MOON: Tonight's full moon is the closest and biggest of 2006.
Why? The Moon's orbit is lopsided: one side is closer to Earth than
the other. When the Moon turns full on Sept 7th, it will be on the close
side, making it seem a bit wider than usual. Look for the extra-wide
Moon rising in the east at sunset--very pretty.

A SPOT OF FOLKLORE: September's full Moon is usually called the Harvest
Moon, but not this year. By definition, the Harvest Moon is the full
Moon closest to the autumnal equinox. This year's equinox falls on Sept.
23rd and the full Moon closest to that comes on October 7th. The 2006
Harvest Moon will have to wait until October.

Cool.....In fact, I was just gazing at the full moon this morning just before sunrise as I drove to work...beautiful.

Thanks for the info! I will look forward to doing some star/moon gazing down in DisneyWorld on October 7! I think it will call for a nice astro-drink to accompany me.

Around 6 in the evening, Venus rose at sundown. Dan bought me a telescope and I've been using it whenever the weather isn't crappy. I'm looking forward to the day I can look at mars. I haven't found Jupiter or saturn yet.
