This is from when I was younger. A cabin across the river from us caught fire and the man made it out with a pair of jeans and his wallet. The weiner dog near me was my PJ.
Same fire, but taken with my mom. One of the firefighters who was on the truck behind us (# 282) was a close family friend of ours.

Black Friday 1975: a fire that was started by someone's unattended campfire came through our canyon. The fireman I mentioned in the post above took me in when we were evacuated. We were told that the fire took our cabin, but it didn't, although it came within 3 feet of the cabin and blistered the siding.
The terrain after the fire was erie. It reminded me of a scene from another planet. I can still smell it in my mind as I look at the pictures. I had such fun hiking after the fire and watching all the changes as the plants came back and healed the land.

Dangerous as it is, I must say I find fire to be beautiful at the same time.
