YOU.....

*cleans construction debris from outer ear* WHAT???

I take it you're not a short track guy...

I was glued to the tube....I fall asleep during Michigan, Chicago, New Hampshire-type tracks...Flat tracks and 5-wide racing doesn't appeal to me very much...And the road courses.....*YAWN* puhleeeze...with one or two spots on the whole circuit to pass, it doesn't seem worth the effort... IMHO, the best part of a road course race... is watching cars go off-track into the sand berms, to see if they can get out of it without a tow...lol

Agree, but man...those Cup guys need to leave Busch to the youngsters....it's no fun watching Harvick run away with the Busch series.

My thoughts exactly. It is BS cup guys are allowed to race Busch. If you are running a full cup schedule than you need to stay out of Busch. That should be a development league. How are young guys plus guys with not as much cash supposed to compete with the big names. ie Roush Hendrick etc coming in a taking all the spots, not to mention provisionals. Nascar will never do anything about it though, too much money at stake and the big names put butts in the seats  I almost hate Nascar anymore. It is become so marketed and civilized. It's grass roots racing for gosh sakes, Now freaking Toyota has invaded and F1, no offense to F1 but those guys have their own circuit. Why do they have to race Nascar? Nascar was all about good ole boys banging fenders. Nascar has turned its drivers into a bunch of sissies. all for the mighty dollar. and don't even get me started on PC. The reason there are no African Americans in the sport is the same reason you do not see 5 foot five white guys in the NBA. You know what I am talking about.

I agree with you too Soup....and I can remember Mark Martin getting his "frequent flyer miles" in Busch too...I HATED seeing him in Busch...it DIDN'T help him get a Cup championship THEN, and it isn't helping NOW either.

As far as the Toyota issue goes, I agree there too...and I DRIVE A TOYOTA!! Reason being, Nascar is saying "There's room for EVERYBODY" NOW....but, if TOYOTA WINS the manufacturers' title, you can bet yer ass there's gonna be 50 kindsa hell raised about it. That's not gonna stand for long...I wanna know how they can keep them all equal too...If they're gonna do THAT, then why not let Chevy enter another vehicle into competition like Ford has with Taurus and Fusion? Personally, I'd like to see Malibus run...but they won't...why?

Cuz Malibus are pieces of CRAP.

And for the record, there ARE "Americans of African Descent" in NASCAR!(just not in CUP races yet. And don't use the term "African American"...it's completely opposite of the origin....to summarize: Born HERE = AMERICAN). Sorry...I had a friggin' PC attack MYSELF!!

I agree with that too. The term African American fries me as well. How bout putting America first, ie American African... or like you said just American. What if a caucasion person from South Africa, and there are, came to the United States. would they be an African American too. I would say most of the African Americans I know have never been out of Indiana much less Africa. I am tired of PC crap too. If someone says something that offends you mount and intelligent argument or deal with it.

Junior clears another hurdle en route to Chase

Leaves Fontana with career-best, runner-up finish on 2-mile ovals
By Ryan Smithson, NASCAR.COM
September 4, 2006
10:18 AM EDT (14:18 GMT)

FONTANA, Calif. -- If and when Dale Earnhardt Jr. makes the Chase for the Nextel Cup, he can point to his performances at Fontana and Michigan as major reasons why.

NASCAR holds four races a year at the high-speed, low-banked 2-mile tracks, and those particular ovals have historically been a struggle for Earnhardt.

In 2005, when Earnhardt famously failed to qualify for the Chase, he didn't finish better than 17th in any of the four races at Fontana and Michigan.

But Dale Earnhardt Inc. made vast improvements to its superspeedway bodies in the offseason, and Earnhardt didn't finish worse than 11th in the four races on 2-mile tracks in 2006.

"This is my best finish here," said Earnhardt, who moved from ninth to sixth in the points. "We are happy to get a second anywhere, but especially here at California. These kind of racetracks -- we have really turned these around."

Earnhardt spent 201 of the 250 laps in the top 10, but he struggled mightily on short runs. Fortunately for him, the race was stopped only seven times, and four of those cautions were for debris.

The race was caution-free for the final 54 laps, and Earnhardt picked off 13 cars during that run.

Despite the runner-up finish, Earnhardt felt the engine in his Chevrolet wasn't optimal, and he maintained his momentum by running the high line for most of the night.

"I think we're down on power to some of the other teams, so running that top line really keeps the momentum up and makes it really launch off the corners," Earnhardt said.

Earnhardt is only 47 points ahead of 10th-place Jeff Burton with one race to go until the Chase begins, but the series hits Richmond next week.

Earnhardt won at Richmond in the spring for his only victory of the season. His season nearly unraveled in July, when he suffered back-to-back last-place finishes to fall to 11th in the standings.

Much of his resurgence can be traced to Indianapolis, where he struggled badly but salvaged a sixth-place finish with pit strategy. Since then, he has notched three top-10s in four races.

"We're peaking at just the right time, and we want to keep that momentum going where we can put ourselves in position to win the Chase," Earnhardt said. "We've got all of the tangibles to win -- the team, the cars, the driver and the pit crew -- so we'll see if we can keep it going."

Getting ready for Richmond folks....The Chevy "Rock and Roll 400" ...The entire metro area here is abuzz with givaways, show cars, driver "grip and grin" appearances and NASCAR CHASE FEVAH!!

It's DO OR DIE, and I can't think of a better track to "let the cream rise to the top" than RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY....3/4-MILE LIGHTNING...sheet-metal-crunchin', wheel-to-wheel, 2-groove GOODNESS...and all of it under the lights. :headbang:

I can't friggin wait.
